Unit 7

Complete the Meeting Aesclepius mp3 (located in the Doc Sharing area). Describe your meditative practices for the week and discuss the experience. Explain how mindfulness or meditation has fostered an increase in your psychological or spiritual wellness. How can you continue to apply these practices in your life to foster greater health and wellness?

Due to terrible weather here, I did not have a chance to experience this specific meditation. But I love meditation, mostly visualizing. My workload is heavy on a daily basis, but being able to meditate a few minutes every day allows me to rejuvenate and energized for the next day. My first line supervisor worries that I will soon burn out, but I feel fine because I take the time out of the day or the week to allow myself to relax and find peace and calmness.

Describe the saying: "One cannot lead another where one has not gone himself" (p.477). How does this apply to the health and wellness professional? Do you have an obligation to your clients to be developing your health psychologically, physically, and spiritually? Why or why not? How can you implement psychological and spiritual growth in your personal life?

As a Soldier, we learned as young leaders never to have a subordinate do something you are not willing to do yourself or has not done yourself. Meaning it is hard to help an individual accomplish something you have not done. Any leader in any field should lead by example. How can you convince someone to live a healthier lifestyle if you are willing to follow your own advices? I think I can implement psychological and spiritual growth in my personal life by setting realistic goals until I reach my desired goals.

  1. Hello Caroline,
Prayer is my preferred method of meditation. A prayer can be said even in a storm. Prayer can provide you with peace in a storm. I am glad that meditation provides you with a sense of calmness and keeps you from reaching burn-out. I just think that meditation requires too much. I feel that I get the same results through prayer
